Chorus
One wintry evening when I was three
My dad brought home a huge Christmas tree
I stood amazed there as he moved it inside
I could feel his excitement -- see the sparkle in his eyes

Verse
He placed it in a stand and secured it very tight
Then took out lots of boxes of brightly colored lights
As he started to hang a few lights high on the tree
He stopped and turned around and looked lovingly at me

Verse
I wanted to help him so and he saw it in my eyes
Then he reached out and gave me a string of colored lights
Even now feelings well in my heart with love for him
On Christmas Eve when I hang up colored lights again

Verse
My memories can bring Dad back to me
And ways he showed all dad’s love can be
I felt so grown up even though I was three
I feel Christmas and our love makes the holidays for me

Verse
I look at my own son who is almost turning three
Brings back nice mem’ries when I helped Dad light up that tree
It’s my son now I want things for but more than that
I want him to think of Christmas like I think of my Dad

Chorus
One Wintry Evening when I was three
My dad brought home a huge Christmas tree
I stood amazed there as he moved it inside
I could feel his excitement – see the sparkle in his eyes
